Microsoft originally slated the final release build for April 12, 2010. Somasegar said the Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4 releases will now be pushed back "a few weeks."

I know the version / product name says "2010", but that doesn't necessarily mean that it will RTM in 2010. After all VS'2008 RTM'd in November 2007.

The last Beta of VS'2008 came out in July 2007, and it RTM'd in November. So based on the previous version that places VS'2010 to RTM in September 2010 at the very earliest since the first Beta just came out in May.

Anyone have any other speculations?

The launch date is March 22nd 2010 April 12th 2010, so RTM would be a month or so before that since RTM (which is a phase, not a date) doesn't mean 'out in a box to buy', but means the code is complete.

We saw this with Win7, which RTM'd a couple of months ago, but will be launched officially in a couple of days.

edit: Coming out today (April 12, 2010)! Should be available on MSDN Subscriber site at 10am PST (1 PM EST, 5pm UTC/GMT).

Because this thread ranks high in Google search results, I thought I'd add some new information from Microsoft. Apparently, VS2010 RTM has been delayed due to performance reasons. Although no specific date was mentioned, it will be after March 22, 2010:

I'm currently only allowed to post a single link, but here is a good story from an industry blog (cut-and-paste link):

It's now available for download on MSDN.

The date has been pushed back to April 12, 2010 http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=4981

Scott Hanselman (Principal Program Manager for Microsoft) confirms in a tweet that, "MSDN will be updated with [Visual Studio 2010] downloads and details at 10am PST [April 12, 2010]."

MidSofts.com claims that the RTM was complete as of April 3, 2010. The build is 10.0.30319.1 RTM.

It's been released (12 April 2010)

I could tell you; but then, they'd have to sue me.

Basically they are taking down MSDN for benefits April 9th at 5:00 pm. It will come back up on april 12th at 6:00 am. This is to modify the memberships for msdn and to launch Visual Studio 2010.

If you buy a membership before April 12th, they automatically upgrade you one level of membership on April 12th. So if you have professional then you get premium, etc. etc. Can't afford to miss out on that one.

They need to deliver by the December 21, 2012 deadline.....

Just heard Scott Guthrie say RTM hopefully by first half of 2010. Beta 2 coming in the fall.

Just spoke to Microsoft MSDN Chat. It RTM's and is available for MSDN subscribers on April 12, 2010. The Microsoft Rep directed me to this page.

I read somewhere late fall. Keep watching scott gu webiste.

Mary Joe Foley at ZDNet speculates (from a slideshow) that VS2010 will be released in the April 2010 timeframe.

I hope it will soon. I am waiting to see the new things.

I would really like to know when international versions are being released...

since beta 1 was released last month i think they will have two other releases before RTM maybe a beta 2 and a release candidate so you do the math :d
